LAKE COUNTY BEAUTIFUL
Lake County gets its name because of the 1,400 lakes in the county. Many are interconnected and referred to as the "Chain of Lakes." If you are a real boater, you can cruise these interconnecting lakes, rivers and canals to Jacksonville via the St. Johns River and on out to the Atlantic Ocean.
In addition to the boating, sailing and fishing, there are many events, attractions, festivals and the County Fair. And yes, there is even an enclosed shopping mall to occupy your time on a rainy day.
Many of the communities have antique stores galore, flea markets, museums as well as major libraries and culture centers. For you would be actors and actresses some of the communities have their own little theater groups.
Most communities boast about their Lakefront public parks and playgrounds for the entire family and community.
For you golfers, you are going to find some of the finest public and private courses in the state. Most courses are within a 30-mile radius from anywhere in the county.
Because of the rolling hills, dales and national parks there are many great hiking trails and even ranches in some of the communities for horseback riding.
For the entire family there is the YMCA in Tavares with an outdoor heated swimming pool and a complete gym for you workout enthusiasts. There are full basketball courts inside and out and there are many sponsored events throughout the year for all ages.
Least we forget, our county has many churches of all denominations for the spiritual and social needs of the community.**
